Opening Night!

Last night was the opening show of the mysterious “Tea with Mint or Lemon” production and hopes were high on and off stage of the Noorda Theatre. Before the show began one of our  box office members was able to track down several key players of the production to get their insight on the play. The following is what they had to say about the night…

What are your thoughts going into the show tonight?

Cherie Julander (Clara): I’m ready, so ready for opening  night. I was ready for it last week so I’m glad it’s finally here!

Andy Hansen (Richard): I’m really excited for tonight too, a little nervous but I think an audience is what we need… I think that tonight will go smoothly.

Dan Anderson ( Robert): Yeah, everyone’s put so much work into their French that I think it’s     going to  really surprise the Audiences, it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Joshua French (Run Crew): I think it’s going to be Freaking Fantastic! The entire cast has been ready for a week and a half and it’s a great show!

What do you think about your character and the play as a whole?

Andy Hansen (Richard): It’s funny… Just because of the Challenge of learning French, it’s been by far the hardest role I’ve ever done. The Character is really fun! I’ve never really had a character like Richard. And the Play, it’s complicated enough without being in another language so I think by having it in another Language it just makes more a more pleasant experience…

Cherie Julander (Clara): At first I was really intimidated by it because it’s a giant project! But it actually came around faster than I expected it too, I really didn’t expect us to be ready by tonight and yeah, we were ready for an audience last week!

Dan Anderson (Robert): I had a lot of fun building my character! Jaron, our Lighting Designer, as ked how I felt about the theatre itself and  we came to the decision that the whole show is about  people holding the right tools in the wrong hands… So that’s what I’ve been going off of… Robert, my character, is somebody who’s happy to be here but doesn’t always know what he’s doing and everyone’s really stressed because it’s only two days before opening night… So normally I think my character would be pretty jovial but right now he’s pretty stressed and pissed off.

Joshua French (Run Crew): Everybody on stage is fantastic, but Nick Groissant (Dominique Brunet), every time he’s onstage he’s always there! It’s really great to watch…

What would you like to say to those individuals who are hesitant to come, due to the fact that it’s mostly in French?

Andy Hansen (Richard): They should come anyways to see for themselves whether or not it’s a show worth coming too... I’m not worried for those who don’t know French, in fact I think I’m more excited that they’ll come since they’ll probably enjoy the show more then the French speakers since French speakers will know  that I really… don’t know any French.

Cherie Julander (Clara): Come and just be ready to laugh, because even though you don’t think you’re going to understand it you probably  will… There will be some things that will happen that you’re not going to need to know any French to understand what’s going on!
